ART Revealed

Find your heart.  Find your art.  Find the heart of your art.
Surrounded by the stunning visual beauty of Italy and the stimulating company of others seeking artistic growth and expression, your art will be revealed.

Where do ideas come from?  How do we translate them into art?  We will unlock the answers to these questions through a variety of daily practices.

For many of us, art begins with seeing.  Forms, color, light, nature and the stars inspire us and inform us.  Visual observations work their way into our hearts and are the seed of our art.

For others, art emerges from materials and tools.  Found objects, stained stones, or a crushed leaf may become a palette, pigment or pedestal.  Working in new ways opens new pathways.

Insights also emerge from discussion.  Artists see and understand the world in unique ways, and when we connect, the conversations make us grow.  New ideas emerge from the heart and find their way to expression.

These ideas come most easily when the mind is unblocked and free from the cares of daily life.  They come when the world and people around us stimulate our natural positive energies.

Your retreat leaders are experts in art making techniques.  That’s the easy part.  More important is that they know how to stimulate the great energy and art that lies within you.  Through daily practices, creative art noodling and sharing, the art that is within you will rise up naturally.  You will bring these insights and energy home to your daily life, renewed, re-energized and ready to make the work that satisfies your heart at the deepest level.

RELAX AND REINVIGORATE!

Since your retreat is all-inclusive, we take care of all the details to make enhance your vacation. We can even arrange a massage, a cooking lesson, bicycles or a special excursion-like a winery tour or truffle hunting if you’d like (for an additional fee).

FOODIES REJOICE!
Enjoy amazing local cuisine and gourmet meals the entire journey. We will dine at local restaurants, watch the sunset during dinner in the historic Siena Campo and imbibe incredible local wines. And, we can accommodate any food allergy or preference with advance notice.
EXPLORE GLORIOUS SIENA!

Your workshop opened me up creatively to a whole new world of creative expression. It encouraged me to take risks without fear of outcome and all of this was fun. I would highly recommend your workshop to everyone. Ginger Schmidt

CHRISTOPHER STAPLES As a visual person, I am inspired by what I see around me: a pattern left on the road, misty windows, a color combination, elegant typography, a line created by a crack or the texture of old billboards. Somehow, these potentially overlooked or unseen moments are a metaphor for life to me–I need to pay attention to my passion. I must be in the moment not only in the everyday, but to allow the visual stimulation and translate it into expression. The gut, or visceral experience that is this process excites me- it is a glimpse into a moment in time, a thought, a strangers’ or my own hidden self, our collective humanity. So I make marks, combine collage with paint and charcoal, make prints and art journals and write to delve deeper into the unconscious, for, to me that is the place of true knowing. I am a risk taker. I love to experiment, fail, try new ways of art making. This is what I encourage in my students-to venture into the uncomfortable places and meet their own natural state of true and unique creativity. To find your own voice is a powerful experience. To get “in the zone” is something we can control. And it doesn’t have to be hard. Risks in art are fun. To not take everything so seriously and EXPLORE what is around us, and venture to express our experience of ourselves and the world is what it is all about. My recent training as a SoulCollage® facilitator has only enhanced this in my teaching. I do have a BFA and have exhibited and curated shows, however making art with others and opening students to new ways of seeing and expressing is as inspiring and satisfying as the random visual experiences that inspire me as an artist.
